Solidarity Message on the Death Anniversary of Aasia and Ghulam and the Unveiling of the Monument of the Disappeared in Kashmir

We mourn in a special way today as we commemorate the death anniversary of Aasia and Ghulam! They are among the hundreds of thousands of human rights activitists all over the world who died in defense of human rights.  Their names will forever live in our hearts.  Their contribution to our long-drawn work on human rights advocacy will never be forgotten.

Needless to say, the world has become a better place to live in because Aasia and Ghulam had once walked closely with us in this life's journey! Let these noble thoughts on them somehow console their loved ones and us, their co-workers who are left behind.

We congratulate you, fellow families of the disappeared and friends in Kashmir, for the unveiling of the Monument of the Disappeared also today. May this monument always remind us of the utmost self-giving of our martyrs and heroes...and inspire us to give our best in our human rights work especially when we tend to be discouraged by the glaring difficulties and challenges of day to day.  Indeed, let the monument serve as our inspiration as we continue to work for the cause of the disappeared and for a better quality of life for our people!
